Architecture built naturally for a low carbon future

Arbor Architects is a practice for sustainable architecture.  Based in Herefordshire, we bring our expertise to projects in our neighbourhood and beyond.

Our work is underpinned by the ethos that it is only possible to deliver well crafted, timeless and enriching spaces if the architecture is rooted in a response to its context. With a rigorous understanding of people, place and the environment we deliver innovative design solutions that are both cost effective and environmentally responsive. Our use of natural materials create spaces that entice the senses, age beautifully and create healthy internal environments.

We are passionate about putting people at the centre of what we do and creating places that will enrich, delight and perform. To achieve this, we work closely with our clients, stakeholders and the local community to develop a thorough understanding of their needs and aspirations. Through our use of sketches, models and 3D visualisations, our clients are involved in every stage of the design process.

‘Elly collaborated with us very skilfully to provide guidance, ideas and an opportunity to help us articulate what we wanted to achieve. Always listening to and hearing us, providing timely pragmatic options and solutions, Elly was great to work with and the ‘final design’ more than met our brief.

Overall, we can’t recommend Elly and Arbor Architects highly enough.’

Matt is a highly motivated and knowledgeable architect, always going the extra mile to help keep the project on track. Working with him to deliver the UK’s first Passivhaus Plus Building at Bicester Eco Centre was an enjoyable learning curve for all involved,

Matt was able to offer professional help and guidance throughout the process.

Sam Lewis, Bicester Eco Business Centre

‘It’s been great working with Matt on the design of our new home. Being involved so closely from the outset and honing our brief was fundamental in getting the home we wanted. The way in which Matt interpreted our ideas into the final design was brilliant.

The cardboard model for the final design was great in being able to understand the spaces in 3D ahead of construction starting. ‘

Jayne & Ian, The Vern

‘We felt that Elly understood our aims from the first meeting. She delivered a design which we went on to build on budget, and exceeded our expectations. We have a home which is a joy to live in, works beautifully for us, is quiet, comfortable and has enhanced our lives.

We enjoyed working with Elly as she shaped our ideas and guided us through the design process.’
