Orchard House, Herefordshire

Orchard House is located within a former apple orchard on the outskirts of Hereford city. The client’s ambition is to create a bespoke home with exemplar levels of performance, comfort and quality.

Learning from its rural context, the house adopts agricultural forms and materials to create a home that defines a series of courtyards that connect the house to its surrounding context.  The front courtyard creates a practical and visible arrival space, while the rear courtyard garden is a more private space that connects both visibly and physically with the ancient orchard beyond.

The house will be built to the Passivhaus standard and will generate renewable energy on site with a ground source heat pump and photovoltaics.
