Ysgubor-Berth Threshing Barn Retrofit, Llangattock

This existing barn conversion is located on a beautiful site, within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The barn, which dates back to the 1800’s, was originally converted to a dwelling in the 1980’s and the clients would like to improve both the layout and the thermal performance to make it into a home fit for sustainable family living.

The main focus for this project is to create warm and comfortable living spaces that bridge inside and outside spaces, enabling the whole family to connect with the natural surroundings. The spaces also need to be functional for family life and adaptable for future changing requirements.

We are working with the buildings historic fabric to ensure any modern additions protect and enhance the original stonework, while improving the building’s overall thermal performance and airtightness. Our focus is on simple and natural insulation materials that enable the buildings to breathe and create healthy indoor environments.
